What it does

• Weight calculator: 14 shapes, from plate and chequered plate to round, square and rectangular tube, angles, rebar and pipe, in steel, stainless steel, aluminum and other metals. Enter a quantity and a price per kg or lb to get the total.
• Section look-up: type a designation such as W8x18, HEA 200, ISMB 300, UPN 100 or NPS 2" schedule 40 to see the weight per metre and foot, dimensions and section properties.
• Right-click: select a size in a quotation, drawing list or e-mail, choose Look up steel section, and a small card shows its weight next to the text.
• Address bar: type sw, a space and a size (for example sw w8x18) to jump to the size's page on this site.
• History: recent calculations are kept on your device, so you can reuse them.

Privacy

The extension collects no personal data and has no access to the websites you visit. It stores your settings and history in the browser, and checks this site once a day for new data. Details are in the privacy policy.

Frequently asked questions

Is the extension free?

Yes. There is no account, no subscription and no advertising. It does the same calculations as this site.

Does it work offline?

Yes. All section tables, pipe schedules, rebar sizes and sheet gauges are inside the extension, so the calculator and the look-up work without a connection.

How does the data stay up to date?

Once a day the extension checks a small version file on this site. When the tables change, it downloads the new data file; otherwise nothing is downloaded.

Does it read the pages I visit?

No. It has no access to websites. The right-click card only appears after you select a size and choose the menu item, and it shows the result on that tab only. No data about you or your browsing is collected.

Which languages are supported?

English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Russian, Arabic, Indonesian, Vietnamese and Chinese. It follows the browser language, and you can change it in the settings.
